Filip Haag was born in Bern in 1961. He graduated in history of art and literature from the University of Zurich in 1986 and then worked as a freelance artist. He taught painting techniques at ETH Zurich and the Schule für Gestaltung [School of Design] in Bern and Biel from 1994 to 1995, and history of art at the F+F Schule für Kunst und Mediendesign [F+F School of Art and Media Design] and the Hochschule der Künste [University of the Arts] in Bern from 1999 to 2001. Since 1996, he and other artists have organised numerous exhibition projects for the Kunstraum Kiosk in Bern’s Lorraine district. Since 2006 he has been a member of the board of the Bernische Kunstgesellschaft [Bern art association]. He has received numerous scholarships and grants from the city of Thun and other cities, and studio residencies (in New York, for example). He exhibits at various solo and group exhibitions and is represented in a variety of collections. He currently lives and works in Bern.
