Cantonale artists on their work – Johanna Dobrusskin
I am fascinated by stories that tell us something about our plant environment. They reveal values that shape our relationship with plants. These stories often highlight contrasts and contradictions and can open up new perspectives.
My relatively nomadic lifestyle, with several places of residence, and my engagement with plants, which by their very nature need a fixed location, are the constant source of tension in my life. I seek stability within myself: I cultivate my garden of ideas.
I am currently working with wax, mainly beeswax, and clay. The origin, the scent, the consistency and yet fragility, the easy malleability and the warmth and coldness, the smoothness and roughness of these materials appeal to my hands.
