Schnittstellen der Sicht. Hans Gerber and Sabine Hertig
Conceived as a kind of dialogue, the exhibition brings together collages by Hans Gerber (1910–1978) and Sabine Hertig (b. 1982). From the mid-1950s, Hans Gerber spent nearly two decades developing a distinct visual vocabulary defined by a sculptural approach to surface and form. More than 400 of his works are held by the Kunstmuseum Thun and are now being presented and placed in context for the first time since 1980. Sabine Hertig has used collage as both a method of artistic thinking and practice since 2010. By connecting individual fragments and viewing the whole through the lens of the detail, she reflects on today’s media and visual world. Situated at the intersection of analogue materials, artistic gesture and digital imaging, the exhibition presents two artists who bring together the past and present of collage.
