Re-light: Collected works in a new light

Students at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB) are developing virtual interventions based on works from the collection that explore the theme of light in the broadest sense. Re-Light is conceived as an experimental platform that links the collection, digital practice and outreach – and casts the works in a new light. The selected works from the collection are presented alongside their digital interpretations. The project raises key questions: How can a work be related to the theme of light? How closely does a digital intervention remain faithful to the original – and where does an independent artistic transformation begin? What forms of transmediality emerge in the interplay between the physical object and virtual space? And what added value do such interpretations offer for contemporary art education?
