Ortswechsel 2025 - Sabine Hess im Atelier Berlin
On the outskirts of Berlin, photographer Sabine Hess (born in 1994, lives and works in Thun and Biel) found herself in the midst of a natural idyll. A lakeside settlement whose complex origins meet current realities. This chance encounter became the starting point for her ongoing photographic work and research project Ein Haus am See (A House by the Lake). During her scholarship, Hess returned to this place again and again – searching, observing, documenting.
How does our view of nature change when it becomes the setting for history?
And how does the past carry over into the present?
Changing locations in the name of art – the exhibition series, which is the result of a collaboration between the cultural department of the city of Thun and the Kunstmuseum Thun, presents the artistic processes and works that the studio scholarship holders experienced and created during their time abroad.
