Lumpen Station. Töne-Ton-Werden
Lumpen Station was founded in 2019 as an acoustic extension of the espace libre visarte Biel/Bienne, with the aim of exploring radio as an expanded exhibition format for contemporary art. Its curatorial programme evolves through invitations and unfolds both in institutional art spaces and non-traditional, site-sensitive contexts. Alongside its digital presence, Lumpen Station produces site-specific installations designed as artist workshops and immersive environments for collective listening. All content is initially broadcast live, then archived and distributed as podcasts, extending the reach of its participatory practice across time and space. Since 2021, the platform has been directed by Mathilde and Andrea Marioni.
