Ernst Ramseier (b. 1936, Langnau im Emmental, d. 2020, Unterseen) was a painter, graphic artist and poet. His highly expressive depictions of individual figures and dense groups have an oddly haunting quality. The character heads stare straight out at us, irritating and fascinating by turns. The artist, who passed away just a year ago, will be the focus of a solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum featuring oil paintings from the estate, some on view for the first time, and selected woodcuts from the museum’s large collection.
