CALL AND RESPONSE
GEORGE STEINMANN IN DIALOGUE
The exhibition Call and Response. George Steinmann in Dialogue focuses on the work of artist and blues musician George Steinmann, who grew up in Thun and builds bridges between art, science, and society. For more than 30 years, he has been working on connecting different systems and, in particular, on cultural sustainability. Steinmann is a researcher who promotes visionary dialogue about the phenomena of our world for the benefit of society. His projects, which take him to the Arctic or the last primeval forests of Europe, visualize complex interrelationships and create networks. Artistic innovation is used to develop sustainable processes. In his work, Steinmann takes art far beyond the conventional element of artistic design—it becomes a “medium for exploring, recognizing, and changing the world.” The solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Thun brings together important earlier groups of works by Steinmann and presents new ones created specifically for the space.
A publication in German and English has been released in connection with the exhibition.
