AESCHLIMANN CORTI-STIPENDIUM 2011

In 2011, the Bernese Art Society is once again offering the Louise Aeschlimann and Margareta Corti Fellowship. It is the most generously endowed private art fellowship in the Canton of Bern and ranks among the most generously endowed private awards in the country. Since 1942, 195 artists have been awarded an AC scholarship, and since 2005, the prize amount has been CHF 70,000.

Artists who have been residents of the Canton of Bern or have local citizenship for at least one year are eligible to participate in the scholarship competition and the associated exhibition. The age limit is set at forty years (born in 1970 or later). The Louise Aeschlimann and Margareta Corti Fellowship follows a two-stage process and will take place this year at the Kunstmuseum Thun, where the exhibition will also be held. Based on the submitted documentation, the jury selects artists for a second round of judging. From this group, the winners of the fellowships and the support awards are chosen, and the works for the exhibition are curated. The exhibition offers an interesting cross-section of the national art scene and presents an exciting mix of emerging young artists and already established artists.

Award Winners:
The jury has unanimously awarded a Grand Prize of CHF 40,000 to Niklaus Wenger (*1978) and two Support Awards of CHF 15,000 each to Livia Di Giovanna (*1984) and Niklaus Mettler (*1986).
