In 2007, the Bernese Art Society is once again inviting applications for the Louise Aeschlimann and Margareta Corti Scholarship. It is one of the most important scholarships for visual artists in the Canton of Bern and has been awarded since 1942. As was the case last year, a total prize fund of CHF 70,000 is available.

The Louise Aeschlimann and Margareta Corti Scholarship is awarded through a two-stage process and will be organised this year at the Kunstmuseum Thun, where the exhibition will also take place. Eligible to apply are artists who have been resident in the canton of Bern for at least one year or who are entitled to residency in the canton of Bern. The age limit is set at 40 years (born in 1967 or later). Based on the submitted documentation, the jury selects artists for a second round of judging. From this group, the winners of the scholarships and the support awards are chosen, and the works for the exhibition are also selected. The exhibition offers an interesting cross-section of the national art scene and presents an exciting mix of emerging young talents and already established artists.

The members of this year’s jury are Holger Hoffmann (Bernische Kunstgesellschaft), Susanne Kulli (Chair of the Aeschlimann Corti Scholarship), Christoph Lichtin (Curator at the Kunstmuseum Luzern), Mario Sala (artist) and Madeleine Schuppli (Director of the Kunstmuseum Thun).
