FilterWalter Kretz
Walter Kretz was born in Steckborn in 1942. He completed an apprenticeship as a sculptor under Hans Brogni in Nidau between 1962 and 1965. He worked as a sculptor with Josef Jeker in Bern between 1966 and 1971 whilst working on his own projects. In the late 1960s he received numerous scholarships, including the Aeschlimann Scholarship and the Kiefer Hablitzel Scholarship. He has been exhibiting his works in numerous exhibitions since the 1970s, including at the 5th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition in Biel in 1970, at the Kunstmuseum Bochum in 1976, and the Kunstmuseum Thun in 1996. He worked exclusively on a freelance basis for four years from 1971. Between 1975 and 2008 he was a lecturer at the Schule für Gestaltung [School of Design] in Bern/Biel, and from 1999 to 2008 at the Hochschule für Künste [University of the Arts] in Bern. He lives and works in Bern.
