Rolf Wenger was born in Uetendorf in 1954. He started teaching himself photography and painting in 1980 and joined the Thun artists’ group “Freilegen” [Uncovering] in the old Hoffmann factory in Thun in 1990. Together with Freilegen, Wenger has organised several group exhibitions. He has been showing his work regularly at exhibitions since 1984, including at the Cantonale Berne Jura. Between 1989 and 2019, he worked at the Archaeological Service of the Canton of Bern, specialising in field photography. Between 2005 and 2020, he travelled to Nepal and India several times, resulting in several photo projects. Wenger lives and works in Thun.
