Rainer Eisch was born in Thun in 1967. He grew up in Steffisburg and, after completing an apprenticeship, began his studies at the Kunstakademie [Art Academy] in Düsseldorf in 1993. He studied under Bern artist Professor Christian Megert and others at the Department for The Integration of Fine Art and Architecture until early 1998. In 1998 he founded the publishing house “report” with Heinrich Gartentor, Susann Schär and Dominik Stauch, with the aim of publishing artists’ projects. From 2002 to 2004 he was a postgraduate at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. He began showing his works in Switzerland and abroad in the early 1990s. Eisch has received numerous awards and scholarships, including grants from the City of Thun in 1997 and 2006, a scholarship from the Aeschlimann Corti Foundation in 1998, and a grant from the Stiftung Kunstfonds [Arts fund] in Bonn in 2011. He lives and works in Düsseldorf.
