Peter Aerschmann was born in Fribourg in 1969. He attended the Hochschule für Kunst und Design [University of Art and Design] in Basel from 1991 to 1992, and subsequently studied computer science at the University of Basel. From 1994 to 1999, he studied creative design at the Hochschule der Künste [University of the Arts] in Bern. Aerschmann has been working as a freelance artist since 1999 and has exhibited regularly in solo and group exhibitions ever since. He has received numerous prizes and scholarships, such as the Swiss Art Award in 2002, the main award of the Aeschlimann Corti Scholarship in 2006, and the Landis & Gyr Studio Scholarship in Budapest in 2019. He lives and works in Bern and Zumholz.
