Mimmo Paladino

Mimmo Paladino (real name Domenico Paladino) was born in Paduli in 1948. A visit to the Venice Biennale in 1964 prompted him to become an artist. That same year, the sixteen-year-old Paladino began to study painting at the Liceo Artistico in Benevento, from which he graduated in 1968.
Paladino’s works are always ambiguous and full of mysterious symbols, which he takes not only from different art-historical periods, but also from different cultures which he then combines to form new pictorial worlds. These fluctuate between the figurative and the abstract, and often have a strict geometry. Death is also a recurrent theme in his work. Paladino lives and works in Benevento and Milan.
