Marta Herzog was born in Schlattingen in 1948. She moved to Steffisburg In 1973 where she lived and worked as a freelance painter. She trained at the painting school of Rose Ueltschi and Giselle Gilgen in Thun, and started showing her works in 1980, taking part in many exhibitions including various group exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Thun. In the mid-1980s, Herzog took courses at the Schule für Gestaltung [School of Design] in Bern and at the University of Bern. She joined the Kunstthurgau artists’ association in 1999 and regularly took part in its group exhibitions. Between 2000 and 2005 she was a member of the City of Thun’s Kommission für bildende Künste [Fine Arts Commission]. Herzog died in Steffisburg in 2022.
