Marco Richterich (real name Marc-André Richterich) was born in Saint-Imier in 1929. He spent his youth in Biel/Bienne. After secondary school he attended the art department of the cantonal Technikum [technical college] in Biel/Bienne and completed an apprenticeship as a draughtsman and lithographer. In the 1950s, he was awarded the Eidgenössisches Kunststipendium [Swiss Federal Art Scholarship] on three occasions. He showed his works in various exhibitions, such as at the SBG-Galerie Pavillon Werd, Zurich (1979), and at the Kunsthaus Grenchen (1989). In 1952, he settled in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France. He moved to Basel in 1958, but regularly stayed in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Richterich died in Basel in 1997.
