Lisa Roggli was born in Thun in 1942. She grew up there but moved to New York in 1962. From 1966 to 1967 she studied painting and sculpture at the Art Students League of New York. She then devoted herself to sculpture under Bert Numme at the Westchester Art Workshop and subsequently taught there between 1969 and 1973. She has shown her works in numerous exhibitions in the USA and Europe since 1969. She held her first solo exhibition in 1975 at the 14 Sculptors Gallery in New York, and in 1987 she exhibited her work in Switzerland for the first time at a larger presentation at the Kunstmuseum Thun. In 1977 and 1979 she took part in a teaching programme at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She resumed her teaching activities at the Westchester Art Workshop in 1980. Between 1981 and 1982 she worked in Pietrasanta, Italy. In 1987 she found a small house there, which became her home and place of work. Later, she moved to Versilia, where she works until today.
