Leopold Schropp was born in Munich in 1939. Between 1953 and 1956 he completed an apprenticeship as a painter and then studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste [Academy of Fine Arts] in Munich between 1961 and 1964. He first worked as a restorer and freelance artist. In 1969, Schropp moved to Bern. He has been showing his work regularly in solo and group exhibitions since the 1970s, including at the Kunstmuseum Luzern in 1982, the Kunsthalle Bern in 1993 and the Centre d’Art Pasquart in Biel in 2002. He lives and works in Worb.
