Sabina Lang was born in Bern in 1972, Daniel Baumann was born in San Francisco in 1967. In 1988, Lang attended the preliminary course at the Schule für Gestaltung [School of Design] in Bern. Between 1989 and 1990 she completed an apprentice-ship as a Interior decorater. Between 1984 and 1988, Baumann completed an ap-prenticeship as a structural draughtsman and obtained his secondary school-leaving certificate (Matura) at continuing-education classes in 1991. They have been working together as a collective under the label L/B since 1991, and their first exhibit together took place at the Galerie Eigen + Art in Leipzig. At first, they moved into a studio in Thun, and later a studio in a factory in Burgdorf in 1993. Lang/Baumann show their works and installations in Switzerland and abroad. They have produced numerous works for public spaces, such as at the Swiss National Bank in Zurich (2012), the Cantonal School in Wettingen (2018) or the Biozentrum of the University of Basel (2019). They have received numerous awards for their work, including the Kunstpreis [Art Prize] of the Canton of Bern (1997), the Schweizer Kunstpreis [Swiss Art Award] (2002), and the Kunstpreis of the City of Bern (2006). Lang/Baumann live and work in Burgdorf.
