Karim Noureldin was born in Zurich in 1967. From 1988 to 1989 he completed the preliminary course at Zurich University of the Arts, and then attended the fine arts class at the Schule für Gestaltung [School of Design] in Basel between 1990 and 1993. As part of the international exchange and studio programme, Noureldin travelled to New York, where he stayed until 2000. In 2001 he spent time at the Istituto Svizzero di Roma, and later in Cairo and London. He has been teaching at the Ecole cantonale d’art Lausanne since 2002. He started to show his works in various exhibitions at home and abroad in 1993. Noureldin has been awarded various prizes including the Swiss Federal Prize for Free Art and the Kiefer Hablitzel Scholarship in 1997, followed by the Manor Art Prize in 2004, and the Irène Raymond Foundation Prize in 2014. He lives and works in Lausanne.
