Hansueli Urwyler was born in Oey-Diemtigen in 1936. After training as a primary-school teacher at the Muristalden teacher-training college in Bern, he trained to be a secondary-school and drawing teacher (studying under, among others, Max von Mühlenen and Gottfried Tritten) in Bern. He went on study trips to Dijon, Lausanne and Salzburg. He has been working as an artist since 1961. From 1963 to 1997 he worked as German and drawing teacher at the grammar school in Interlaken. He has worked as an art educator since 1968 and has also organised many art exhibitions. In 1990 he became a member of the Gilde der Schweizer Bergmaler [Guild of Swiss Mountain Painters]. He shows his work at many exhibitions at home and abroad. He lives and works in Interlaken.
