Alfred Henri König

Alfred König was born in Steffisburg in 1899, the son of the owner of the Steffisburg brickworks. He attended the painting school run by Victor and Marguerite Surbek-Frey and subsequently the Kunstgewerbeschule (School of Applied Arts) in Zurich. König subsequently studied abroad and spent time in studios in Paris and Florence. From 1935, he made his home in Gümlingen, working as a painter and graphic artist. König died in Bern in 1957.
