Achilles Benz

Achilles Benz was born in Dietikon on 13 July 1766. He was trained by the Basel landscape painter Peter Birmann and worked with him on his series Viaggo pittorica ai tre laghi. He would later work mainly as a landscape painter and engraver in Basel where he was known for a number of vedutas of Basel. He also worked as an art teacher in his later life. Benz died in Basel in 1852.
